Our genuine sisterhood and down-to-earth nature are what makes Omega Phi Alpha such a strong, supportive community. Throughout the year, we engage in a variety of sisterhood activities to strengthen our sisterhood. Through various events during the year, we are able to connect with all members of the sorority, create a family away from home, and empower each other to grow and prosper in all walks of life.
Friendship is one of our core principles and we celebrate it in many ways. One way is by having sisterhood events that can range from beach trips, to wellness hikes, to movie nights, to Froyo Fridays. These events are open to all sisters and are a great way to bond during the school year. Another way is that we have a yearly sleepover retreat in the spring. During our retreat, we have a service project and then play games and icebreakers that encourages bonding with all of our sisters.
Another way that sisterhood and friendship are incorporated into Omega Phi Alpha is through our Big/Little program. There are six families in our sorority and a new sister becomes a member of her big sister’s family. Our families do everything we can to make sure our new sisters feel welcome. While there is some competition between families, it is all in good fun, and it ends up bringing us closer together as sisters.
